When it comes to fundraising, I’ve never been a fan of picking up the phone and making the “Ask.” I always have good intentions but never seem to find the time or energy. And–who am I kidding–it can be SUPER awkward asking friends and family for money.
This year, when we were asked to help raise money for EC3’s Raising-the-Roof fund, I knew as a parent and Board member that I had to step up and help. Instead of going down the traditional route of making calls I thought I’d try something a little different.
The other night I got out my computer and made posters explaining that Avery was raising money to fix the leaky roof at school.
I then took pictures of her sitting in front of each poster and sent the pictures to her Grandparents. They loved the photos and even made contributions.
We still have a ways to go to meet our family’s goal of $500 but we are getting there and involving Avery in the fun!
