We Love Our EC3 Grandparent Volunteers

Posted on by EC3 Staff

EC3 has always benefitted from the help of volunteers, and currently there are several “grandparent” volunteers who make regular appearances in classrooms. Grace Smith comes to EC3 from the Foster Grandparent Program and supports the Gecko room, engaging eager young learners like Owen. EC3’s children benefit from the high-quality, inter-generational attention—and lots of love!

The Foster Grandparent Program sponsors volunteer activities that include helping children learn to read, providing general tutoring, and giving support and care at a critical time in their lives. They can be found at several local organizations, including K-12 schools, preschools, faith-based groups, and after-school programs. If you know of a family member or someone in your community who is over age 55 and might be interested in volunteering through Foster Grandparents, have them contact the program by calling 517-887-6116 or visiting the program’s website: www.volunteerlansing.com.
