It’s pretty obvious that Simon enjoys cars, trucks, and trains! But do you see how he’s got them so neatly lined up? Simon is exercising his fine motor and early math skills by arranging them so closely and with such order. When the teachers observe such play, they can assess the developmental levels of the children and provide them with opportunities to make additional progress. Perhaps they’ll introduce science skills by adding a ramp for the trucks to roll down, or literacy skills by lining them up to form letters. Playing is learning when it’s done intentionally!
